UNICORN FACE WASH…

It took me some time to realize, NOT ALL SKINCARE IS CREATED EQUAL. I remember spending many Saturday afternoons reading the labels on the washes, toners, and moisturizers at the store. I would question, “Is this going to cause my skin to do that dry/flaky thing it does when it’s too dry?”… “Am I going to have a bad breakout because this is too hydrating/oily?”…“Can this Unicorn Sparkle Face Wash really make all my dreams come true??” I quickly learned it DID NOT. It did however take me entirely too long to get that dang glitter off of my face… what a dream come true (insert eye roll)! Lesson learned; store bought products can be fun, however most of them put so much into the fun and colorful marketing they forget to take care of the actual product in the bottle.

Before I get to the upside of my skincare journey, let me share another experience I had.. haha!

I opened my direct messages a few months back to see “that friend” trying to sell me some multilevel marketing thing again. It read, “Hey Sweetie! I know we haven’t spoken since high school, but I’m selling these amazing fix-all products that will help your skin look SO much better…”(might be paraphrasing a bit). First of all, don’t call me sweetie. Second, what do you mean by “SO” much better?? I don’t even think we went to the same school. For reasons unknown, I ended up buying some of the products in hopes it would help…“fix-all” was it?… I purchased 2 things; a face scrub and a moisturizer. I brought the package in from my doorstep when it came, opened the box, and tried the “all natural” face scrub first. It irritated my skin so badly it felt like 2020 smacked me right in the face again (we were rooting for you 2020… what happened?!). In a panic I washed the residue off and tried the “calming” moisturizer to help with the irritation. Within minutes of putting it on my skin I looked as red as a fire truck. (again, mandatory eye roll). Needless to say, I will not be using those products again.

After all my nightmares in Skincare Land, I decided to finally give in and go to a specialist. Surprise! Turns out, Medical Grade products can make ALL the difference! Especially with my sensitive skin. As I spoke to the Doctor I was educated about my skin and the type of skin I have. I was shown the correct products to use, and taught the difference between store bought vs. Medical Grade products. I learned SO much! There was something the Doctor said that really stuck out to me, “You don’t have to use as much product on your face with these Medical Grade Products.” (That “pea size amount” saying is actually true for these!). You don't use bottle-after-bottle, dollar-after-dollar. The biggest difference is that these products are Medical Grade, meaning they are more saturated with the beneficial things your skin ACTUALLY needs. The main upside is that I’ve already noticed I have less breakouts, less wrinkles on my forehead/crows-feet, and I can physically tell my skin-health is increasing as the weeks go by. Also, I have noticed my skincare routine is so much quicker and more efficient now!

Side note for those who want some extra skin love, I decided to pair my skincare routine with one HydraFacial a month (sometimes two) for extra pore cleansing and skin hydration.

Like many, I was getting really tired of jumping around all the skincare obstacles. I have personally seen the results of both Medical and Non-Medical products, and can say with all honesty It’s important to understand what a good face wash and moisturizer can do for your skin. I went from irritated, acne prone, oily skin, to healthy, happy, and clear skin! Yes, I still get some adult acne and the occasional imperfections, but now that I’m educated on Medical Grade products, and what they do, I can take care of those issues in no time!

If you have ever wondered what kind of skin type you have, or just want a product that actually does what it’s suppose to; go in to a specialist! You WON’T regret it!

Before I leave you to dissect your own skincare products I would like to say, That Mermaid Holographic Moisturizer isn’t going to help get you the results you really want. Put it down. ;)
